Rick Stansbury said he spent most of his first couple of days at Conference USA basketball meetings sitting back and listening.
After hearing fellow coaches talk about scheduling, RPI and budget problems, the new Western Kentucky men’s hoops coach chimed in with the idea of the league adopting a divisional format.
That measure went to a vote and passed 14-0 among the league’s coaches, Stansbury said Wednesday. The issue is now on to the league’s athletic directors for final approval.
The model Stansbury proposed would follow along with the format C-USA uses for football.
WKU would be in the East Division along with Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, Old Dominion, FIU and Florida Atlantic.
