New Western Kentucky men's basketball coach Rick Stansbury doesn't plan to win with the highest-profile talent.
That's not the way he did it for 14 years at Mississippi State, and that's not how he'll do it with the Hilltoppers.
"We're not going to get the McDonald's All-Americans that Kentucky gets," Stansbury said Monday at his introductory news conference. "I understand that. I didn't get them at Mississippi State. But we got those guys and evaluated them at an early age – guys who in time can develop into those type of players – build a wall around them, and by the time everyone else comes crawling for them, you've got them locked up.
