Stallings ends long recruitment with commitment to WKU

Cecil Stallings said college football coaches started looking at him when he was a high school freshman. That recruiting process didn’t end until he was nearly a college freshman.

Stallings wrapped up his recruitment Monday, announcing his commitment to Western Kentucky.

The Class of 2016 defensive end from Atlanta had made previous commitments to South Carolina and Louisville. Stallings told the Daily News on Wednesday that he’ll report to campus in early July.

The Hilltoppers’ recent success under coach Jeff Brohm, including a 2015 Conference USA championship, influenced Stallings’ pledge, he said.

“I just liked them,” Stallings said.
