“When you call a parent and tell them that you’re coach Spurrier they kind of listen at you funny for a little bit,” Spurrier said Tuesday. “You kind of have to explain from there.”
Spurrier is the son of legendary college football coach Steve Spurrier, who was announced Monday as a new inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame.
The younger Spurrier has worked in coaching since serving as a graduate assistant under his father from Florida from 1994-98. His next stop is Western Kentucky, where he’ll serve as the Hilltoppers’ assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach under Mike Sanford.
