CHARLOTTE, N.C. – WKU softball dropped a pair of tough contests to Charlotte (26-17, 7-7 C-USA) Saturday afternoon as the 49ers started the Conference USA doubleheader by edging the Lady Toppers, 1-0, in a pitching duel and then used a big fifth inning in the nightcap in order to capture an 11-3 victory in five innings.
GAME 1: WKU 0, CHARLOTTE 1
The series opener between the two teams quickly turned into a pitcher’s duel as WKU’s Kat Downing and Charlotte’s Lexi Betancourt both recorded impressive outings in the circle for their respective teams.
