Coach Mike Sanford says he wants to make the commonwealth of Kentucky a priority in his recruiting, even if it wasn’t heavily represented in Western Kentucky’s Class of 2017.
The 23-man signing class WKU announced Wednesday featured just two players from Kentucky: offensive linemen Jordan Meredith (Bowling Green High School, Bowling Green) and Cole Spencer (Trinity HS, Louisville).
Of those two players, only the high school senior Spencer will be a newcomer to the program this fall.
Meredith was with the Hilltoppers last season as a blueshirt, meaning he’ll count toward this year’s signing class and will play in 2017 as a redshirt freshman.
