The Western Kentucky coach and two of his players, Louisville natives Joe Brown and Matt Nord, spent Thursday in the Derby City, pitching the program in various media appearances. The group appeared on TV and radio talk shows and spoke to local print media.
The day’s events culminated in a pep rally at a Buffalo Wild Wings, where Sanford addressed a standing-room crowd that included alumni and families of Hilltopper players from the Louisville area.
Sanford mentioned how Avenue of Champions, the road on WKU’s campus that runs right by Houchens-Smith Stadium, used to be called Big Red Way.
