Rushing woes define Hilltoppers' 6-7 season

From 2010-16, Bobby Rainey, Antonio Andrews, Leon Allen and Anthony “Ace” Wales all rushed for at least 1,000 yards on the season. All four of those running backs rushed for at least 1,500 yards in one year, including a 1,621-yard showing by Wales in 2016.

The Hilltoppers’ reliable rushing attack hit a brick wall in 2017, and with it, so did that streak of 1,000-yard rushers.

WKU’s leader on the ground? D’Andre Ferby, who managed 373 yards on 117 carries – a 3.2 yard per carry average.

Ferby and fellow running backs Quinton Baker, Jakairi Moses and Marquez Trigg barely eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark as a group, finishing with a combined 1,041 on the ground.
