Jordan Thomas scored WKU’s first run of the day after a failed pick-off attempt by the JSU catcher ended up in left field. Brittany Vaughn drove in the Hilltoppers' second and third runs of the first inning with a bases-loaded double.
The Gamecocks (11-15) got to within 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning before WKU (19-11) tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the frame.
