Injuries continue to plague Drew Eckels during his final season at Western Kentucky.
The Hilltopper quarterback won’t play Saturday when WKU (1-8 overall, 0-5 Conference USA) travels to Florida Atlantic (4-5, 2-3), coach Mike Sanford told the Daily News on Thursday.
Eckels started the Tops’ first two games this season, losses at then-No. 4 Wisconsin and at home to FCS program Maine.
Against the Badgers, Eckels completed 15 of 26 passes for 167 yards and ran nine times for 38 yards in a 34-3 defeat. The redshirt senior took a hard hit to his upper body in the fourth quarter and didn’t return.
