Stansbury’s newest big man, Kansas graduate transfer forward Dwight Coleby, has no such visions of being an outside shooter.
Coleby’s longtime coach Darrell Sears instead told the Daily News that 6-foot-9, 240-pound, Nassau, Bahamas native is an old-school power forward who wants to battle in the paint and play physically.
Sears coached Coleby in high school, on the AAU circuit and in international competition. He compared the newest Hilltopper to Zach Randolph of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.
“Think about it: Most of the 6-9 guys all think they’re 3-point shooters like Steph Curry,” Sears said in a phone interview Saturday, shortly after the school announced Coleby’s signing.
