On the field, the linebacker had proven all he needed to on the college level. He recorded a team-best 117 tackles as a redshirt junior in 2017 and was named a First Team All-Conference USA performer.
Off the field, Iyiegbuniwe is just one credit hour short of an undergraduate degree. His goal is to one day attend medical school, so staying at WKU for the 2018 season and starting a different graduate program wouldn’t have served his long-term pursuits.
Iyiegbuniwe talked things over with his family and coaches and announced earlier this month that he was leaving for the NFL.
