Western Kentucky’s sophomore running back was a star at Ashland Blazer High School who joined the Hilltoppers last year and played right away as a freshman. Baker’s game-breaking speed makes him one of WKU’s most potent offensive weapons.
But Baker didn’t get to show his skills Saturday in the Toppers’ season opener against Eastern Kentucky. He instead stood on the Houchens-Smith Stadium sidelines in street clothes, watching his fellow WKU players start the year with a 31-17 victory.
Baker and teammates Xavier Lane and Tyler Obee were all suspended by coach Mike Sanford for the EKU game.
