BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Western Kentucky will almost certainly play in a postseason tournament. But it won’t be the one the Lady Toppers hoped for.
WKU’s 66-63 upset loss to Marshall on Thursday night in the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals basically solidifies that the Lady Toppers will be relegated the WNIT.
WKU’s status in the 64-team, second-tier tournament means WKU (24-6) will have its streak of two straight NCAA Tournament berths snapped.
“The NIT wasn’t our goal, but it’s the postseason,” redshirt junior guard Kendall Noble – who accomplished a triple-double in the loss – told the Daily News.
