New video boards on horizon for Diddle Arena, Houchens-Smith Stadium

Western Kentucky wants to combine the atmosphere of a live game with the at-home comforts of high definition technology.

The WKU athletic department is pursuing funds to upgrade the video boards and sound system at E.A. Diddle Arena and the video board at Houchens-Smith Stadium, athletic director Todd Stewart told the Daily News last week.

The Diddle Arena upgrades are estimated at $1.4 million, while the new board at Houchens-Smith Stadium is estimated to cost $1 million.

Stewart said the athletic department hopes to pay for the project completely with private funds. Both projects would be targeted for completion by the 2018-19 sports season.
