Manley glad to be back on field in final season

Joe Manley has knee braces to thank for the chance to play his final season of college football.

The Western Kentucky offensive lineman was wearing them Aug. 11 during fall camp when a teammate rolled into his leg during a drill.

The redshirt senior Manley twisted down to the turf and had to be helped off the field. Two days later, Hilltopper coach Jeff Brohm told reporters the injury “wasn’t initially as bad as we thought.”

“It looked really bad on video,” Brohm said in August. “It was kind of a freak thing and it got rolled up and luckily he had his braces on or he would’ve been out for the year.
