Loss throws Hilltoppers into 3-way tie for 1st

“We didn’t take advantage of that,” coach Rick Stansbury said after his team’s 66-62 home loss to Middle Tennessee.

That defeat threw the Hilltoppers (14-6 overall, 6-1 C-USA) back into a three-way tie for first place.

Marshall (14-6, 5-2) sits just off the pace in fourth place after it picked up an overtime win Saturday against fifth-place Alabama-Birmingham (13-7, 4-3). Each of C-USA’s other nine teams have at least four league losses already.

MTSU coach Kermit Davis’ team was knocked off Thursday at Marshall before picking up the win two nights later at WKU. He expects a close race between the league’s contenders over the next six weeks leading up to the C-USA Tournament March 7-10 in Frisco, Texas.
