Lady Tops tied for 4th after first day at Kiawah Island

The Western Kentucky women's golf team navigated a 42-team field with success Sunday, finishing the first day of play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic tied for fourth.

The Lady Toppers shot a 5-over 293, five strokes back of the leader and host College of Charleston. Monday’s second round was scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. CT at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Senior Georgina Blackman paced WKU with a 1-under 71 and was tied for 15th. Senior Katie Story and sophomore Bailey Tyree each shot 73s and were tied for 25th.

WKU was steady all day, recording the best score of the entire tournament on par-4s at 3 over.
