Incoming Lady Topper freshman Whitney Creech, the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school basketball history, has been honored as the 2016 Female Athlete of the Year by the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Jenkins native, who finished her high school career with 5,527 points at Jenkins High School, was awarded the accolades at the Hall of Fame banquet Thursday night. Creech led the nation in scoring in each of her final two seasons with the Lady Cavaliers, averaging 42 points per game as a junior before pouring in 50.3 points per contest in 2015-16.

In addition to her Female Athlete of the Year honor, Creech also collected 14th Region Player of the Year laurels in February and was a finalist for Miss Kentucky Basketball 2016.
