Lady Tops drop 2-1 women's soccer decision to Austin Peay

Western Kentucky sophomore Chandler Backes tallied her second goal of the season on a penalty kick early in the second half, but the Lady Toppers could not overcome a pair of second-half goals from Austin Peay in a 2-1 setback Friday in Clarksville, Tenn.

Backes’ penalty kick goal for the Lady Toppers was the program’s first since Oct. 18, 2015, when former player Olivia Fitzgerald scored from the spot in a 3-1 victory at Charlotte.

Allison Leone played the full 90 minutes in goal for WKU, notching three saves.

Backes put the Lady Tops in front with her first collegiate penalty kick at the 48:40 mark.
