Seventh-seeded Western Kentucky tallied a 4-0 sweep Thursday over No. 10 seed Louisiana Tech in the opening round of the 2018 C-USA Women’s Tennis Championship in Norfolk, Va.
It is just the second time in program history that the Lady Toppers have won in the first round of a conference tournament, the first being in 2017.
The Lady Toppers won the doubles point when the No. 1 tandem of Moka Ito and Monica Malinen beat Louisiana Tech's Karla De La Luz and Andre Perez-Lopez in a 7-5 decision. Earlier, WKU's No. 2 duo Cindy Oest and Natalia De Ugarte scored a 6-4 win over Tech's Angela Lorenzo and Nadja Manjon.
