Western Kentucky’s softball team garnered 68 points, which was good for eighth place in the Conference USA preseason poll that the league office announced Wednesday.
Florida Atlantic (148 points) took the top spot in the poll, followed by Marshall (128) and UAB (121). UAB’s Caitlin Attfield was selected as Preseason Player of the Year, while FAU’s Kylee Hanson was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
WKU comes into 2016 looking to replace seven starters, including All-American pitcher Miranda Kramer, from a team that finished with a 16-5 conference record to win C-USA.
WKU will open play Feb.
