Lady Toppers looking for complete games in five-game homestretch

Western Kentucky begins a five-game homestand where Michelle Clark-Heard wants to see her Lady Toppers string together a stretch of complete games.

WKU’s 5-4 record is the worst start in the first nine games of the season in five years under Heard, mostly due to the Lady Toppers’ added strength of schedule. Two losses were to Top 25 teams DePaul and, most recently, Louisville. WKU had chances to win those games in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t finish.

It’s a similar story with early losses to UT Arlington and George Washington. Against the Mavericks, WKU let a large lead slip late in the game and in the Gulf Coast Showcase against GWU, WKU never found its footing in a 19-point loss.
