The No. 2 seed Lady Toppers (24-8) held the lead for 37:38 over a red-hot UAB (26-6) team that defeated WKU in January and took the tournament’s No. 1 seed and claimed its first regular-season championship.
Whitney Creech and Ivy Brown joined Tashia Brown on the C-USA All-Tournament team. Creech scored 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting for her first double-digit scoring night since Dec. 16 against Stetson.
WKU held UAB to 7-of-25 behind the arc and Childress (16 points) to 4-of-13 shooting on 3-pointers. The Blazers 34.9 percent for the game.
Michelle Clark-Heard is now 154-47 in six seasons as WKU’s coach and 178-79 overall.
