The two Conference USA programs sit outside major population centers compared to most of their C-USA brethren and have athletic budgets on the lower end of the league. And like the Hilltoppers, the Bulldogs have used a fun brand of football to put their stamp on C-USA and win games.
Long before any potential December league title showdown, the Bulldogs and Toppers will square off Sept. 16. WKU will host Louisiana Tech that night at 6 in Houchens-Smith Stadium in a game broadcast by new league partner Stadium.
“There isn’t anything given to us,” new starting quarterback J’Mar Smith told the Daily News last week at Conference USA Media Days.
