PROSPECT – Justin Johnson joined the Western Kentucky football team in March for spring practice. Now he’s joined the team’s roll of scholarship players.
Johnson will play the 2017-18 WKU sports season on a football scholarship, men’s basketball coach Rick Stansbury said Monday night while meeting with media during an alumni event.
Johnson will play for coach Mike Sanford’s Hilltopper football team as a scholarship athlete and then will join the basketball team as a walk-on at the end of football season, Stansbury said.
Johnson, WKU basketball’s leading scorer and rebounder from 2016-17, is looking to follow a similar path to close friend and former Topper teammate George Fant.
