Thrust into the main event of UFC 234 at the last minute, Saturday's non-title middleweight fight between Israel Adesanya and Anderson Silva didn't disappoint.
With both fighters daring each other in the Octagon and trading spinning kicks, Adesanya beat Silva by unanimous decision, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27, in Melbourne, Australia.
The bout between Adesanya, 29, and Silva, 43, became Saturday's headliner after UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was forced to pull out because of emergency surgery on his abdomen. Whittaker was set to fight Kelvin Gastelum.
Adesanya improved to 16-0 overall and 5-0 in the UFC.
