Hollingsworth, Hilltoppers beat Oklahoma State, advance to NIT semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – Taveion Hollingsworth’s broken the freshman records. He’s helped Western Kentucky to 27 wins. And now he and his teammates get to go to Madison Square Garden and play for a championship.

The freshman guard went off for 30 points Wednesday in the National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals. Hollingsworth’s dynamic scoring night led the No. 4 seed Hilltoppers to a 92-84 win at No. 2 seed Oklahoma State.

The victory sends WKU (27-10) to the NIT semifinals Tuesday in New York, where it’ll meet Utah.

Hollingsworth was at his best Wednesday for the Toppers, scoring 17 points in the first half, then adding another 13 in the second.
