Hilltoppers split pair at Memphis

Western Kentucky's baseball team split a doubleheader against Memphis on Sunday, winning the opener 3-1 before falling 7-1 in the nightcap in Memphis, Tenn.

On the back of 5 1/3 shutout innings from newcomer Colby Taylor, WKU picked up its first win in the. WKU's Colin Butkiewicz had a key, two-out, two-RBI double in the seventh inning to give the Hilltoppers a lead that Ben Morrison and the bullpen closed out.

The Tops' bullpen combination of Michael Martin, Maddex Richardson and Austin Tibbs paved the way for Morrison to shut down the Tigers for the final two outs.
