Western Kentucky struck for five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish for the squad’s third come-from-behind victory of the season Wednesday with a 10-4 win over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at the WKU Softball Complex.
The Cougars struck first on a two-run home run in the top of the third before WKU answered with five runs. Rebekah Engelhardt led off the inning with a double off the left-field fence before Jordan Thomas followed with an RBI double. Kendall Smith later added a two-run single and Tommi Stowers had a two-run double to put WKU up 5-2.
