Hilltoppers improving on ground behind young RBs, young O-line

A Western Kentucky rushing attack built around a corps of young running backs and young offensive linemen is showing steady improvement.

The Hilltoppers (1-7 overall, 0-4 Conference USA) rushed last week for 168 yards in a 38-17 loss to Florida International, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

WKU has rushed for at least 120 yards in a game five times this season: at Wisconsin (124), at Louisville (168), at Ball State (192), vs. Old Dominion (207) and vs. FIU.

For comparison, the 2017 Toppers reached the 120-rushing-yard threshold only twice, and not at all over their final seven games.
