Austin AnthonyRick Stansbury said throughout Western Kentucky’s preseason Costa Rica trip in August that defense is where his team would have to improve the most before the start of the season.
While certainly a short sample size, the Hilltoppers looked much better in that area Sunday in an exhibition win at Samford. WKU held the Bulldogs to 37.9 percent shooting and grabbed 12 steals Sunday in a 78-64 victory in Birmingham, Ala.
The Toppers will look for another strong defensive effort Wednesday when they host NAIA school Campbellsville in another exhibition at E.
