EL PASO, Texas – Western Kentucky got its win Saturday night against still-winless Texas-El Paso, but the Hilltoppers had to hold on for dear life to secure it.
Miners kicker Brady Viles missed all three of his field goal attempts, including a 41-yarder with 2:01 left that would’ve given his team the lead. WKU ran out the clock from there and survived 15-14.
The Hilltoppers (3-2 overall, 1-1 Conference USA) got their first C-USA win and first road victory of the season. But the nail-biting win over the Miners (0-6, 0-2) didn’t exactly leave WKU players and coaches in a celebratory mood.
