FRISCO, Texas – Five days after taking a 28-point whipping from Alabama-Birmingham, Western Kentucky had a 28-point pasting of its own to hand out Thursday night.
The No. 3 seed Hilltoppers dominated No. 6 seed UAB 98-70 in the C-USA Tournament quarterfinals. The convincing victory at The Star came five nights after the Blazers blew out WKU 101-73 to close the regular season in Birmingham, Ala.
Thursday’s matchup played out like Saturday’s, except it was the other team enjoying the 28-point win. The Toppers (23-9) closed the first half on a 16-2 run to lead 46-35 at halftime, then routed the Blazers (20-13) by a tally of 52-35 in the second.
