Hilltoppers crushed by No. 2 Louisville in road loss

Visiting Western Kentucky dropped an 11-1 baseball decision to No. 2 Louisville on Tuesday at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville.

A career-high six strikeouts by righty Jeff Ciocco highlighted the night for the Hilltoppers. Colie Currie added a hit for the 12th time in 13 games, lacing a triple and scoring the Hilltoppers’ run in the third inning.

Ciocco relieved starter Caleb Bruner to begin the second inning and went 3.2 innings on 79 pitches. He allowed four runs on eight hits, but also added his half-dozen strikeouts.

Currie led off the third with his team-leading second triple of the season down the right-field line, and scored on a ground out by Kevin Lambert.
