The Western Kentucky men’s track and field team captured the program’s first Conference USA Outdoor Championship on Sunday as the Hilltoppers dominated the final day of the event to run away with the title at Middle Tennessee’s Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Hilltoppers entered the final day of the four-day championships in sixth place but captured six event finals and 120 points Sunday on their way to finishing with a total of 148 points, 25 ahead of runner-up and host Middle Tennessee (123).
In the field, Nick Demaline captured the shot put with a throw of 17.
