Justin Johnson sees what makes this year’s Western Kentucky team stand out compared to last season’s.
The Hilltoppers impressed once again Tuesday in their final exhibition before the regular season begins Friday. Johnson, Taveion Hollingsworth and Jake Ohmer each scored 21 points, leading WKU to a 109-66 victory against NAIA program Cumberland (Tenn.) at E.A. Diddle Arena.
WKU won its three exhibition matchups this preseason, including one against Division I foe Samford, by an average score of 93-60. By comparison, the 2016-17 Hilltoppers, who finished the year 15-17, won their two exhibitions by an average score of 95-88.
