Hilltoppers begin practice Tuesday after tumultuous offseason

Western Kentucky enters fall practice with a roster that’s talented but thin and full of questions.

The Hilltoppers will start preseason practices with a workout Tuesday. Coach Rick Stansbury’s squad will practice for a month before hosting its first exhibition Nov. 1 against NAIA school Campbellsville and then officially opening the season with a Nov. 10 home game against Missouri State.

The beginning of practice brings a tumultuous offseason to a close, though questions still linger.

Justin Johnson, walk-on Tyler Miller and Lamonte Bearden, who sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, are the only players back from WKU’s 2016-17 roster.
