The WKU men’s basketball team (11-10) held the lead for the entire game in Thursday night’s win over the C-USA front-runner University of Alabama at Birmingham (17-4), thus ending the nation’s longest active winning streak which stood at 14 victories.
Heading into the game the Hilltopper players had a few different reasons to make a statement with the opportunity to knock off the number one team in the conference.
Last year UAB took down WKU twice, which left a sour taste in the mouths of the returners. Apparently, this week the Blazers made a few comments that didn’t sit well with the Hilltoppers.
