Hilltopper offense falls flat in loss at Illinois

Western Kentucky failed to mount any sort of offensive attack Saturday night and whimpered its way to a 20-7 defeat in Memorial Stadium.

This loss certainly wasn’t the fault of the WKU defense. The Toppers (1-1) only gave up one offensive touchdown and allowed Illinois 4.0 yards per play.

The Tops couldn’t get the passing game revved up. Mike White threw for a pedestrian 238 yards, while drops plagued the receiving corps.

The lackluster offense was a troubling sign for a WKU team that led the FBS last season in both points per game (45.5) and yards per play (7.
