Only three games remain for a Western Kentucky squad that fell to 1-8 overall Friday with a 29-10 loss at Middle Tennessee. The loss was the Hilltoppers’ fifth straight and dropped the team to 0-5 in Conference USA.
Coach Mike Sanford answered for 14 defeats over his first 21 games as WKU’s coach. He answered for a 15th in 22 games Friday at Floyd Stadium.
“1-8, it’s despicable to me,” Sanford said. “It really is. Internally, that eats at you. There’s no doubt about it.
“You have a choice in the matter. You can go into a deep-seated, deep-rooted depression over the situation, or you can rise above it and find a way to get the result you want to get the next week out.
