Western Kentucky got a taste of postseason success last month. Lady Topper coach Michelle Clark-Heard expects her team to build on that in 2016-17.
“To be here, to play in this atmosphere and to get them this postseason experience, we’ll come back hungry,” Heard told the Daily News on Sunday in a phone interview following WKU’s WNIT quarterfinals loss at South Dakota. “That’s what I’m excited about.”
The Lady Toppers’ run through the WNIT proved to be a beneficial experience for a group with just one senior, forward Jalynn McClain, on the active roster.
WKU’s young roster got two extra weeks of practice and played four extra games – home wins against Dayton and UT Martin, a road victory at Saint Louis and the final loss at South Dakota.
