Guard shift proves reliable in Hilltoppers 83-76 win

The guard combo combined for 33 points and playing four guards worked out well for WKU in an 83-76 win over Florida International in front of another announced sellout crowd at E.A. Diddle Arena.

WKU (18-7 overall, 10-2 Conference USA) took the lead early in the second half and never relinquished it by getting to the free-throw line often with a lineup absent of Dwight Coleby.

WKU played big in the first half before the 6-foot-9 forward went down with a knee injury before halftime. Stansbury’s game plan to play small moved the graduate senior Thompson from the 3-spot to the 4-spot, which allowed Bearden and freshmen Taveion Hollingsworth and Josh Anderson to spread the floor with Justin Johnson.
