Freshmen shine in WKU's first fall scrimmage

Burning a few redshirts might be in the future if Sanford sees the same speedy progression from a select group of current freshmen.

Western Kentucky played its first of two live scrimmages of fall camp Saturday night, using 6:30 p.m. as the start time to best emulate the game-day routine for the five home games this season.

With 20 days left before the Hilltoppers open the year at Wisconsin, the second-year coach kept the first scrimmage rather fundamental for players and coaches to get readjusted to game-like situations.
