IRVING, Texas — With a 93-yard touchdown on the opening kickoff of WKU’s 60-6 victory over Marshall, junior Kylen Towner was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It’s Towner’s second such award of his career, also winning one Sept. 14, 2015, following a 98-yard kick return score vs. Louisiana Tech.
Towner - who leads the nation with a 36.7-yard kick return average - fielded the kick at the Hilltoppers’ 7-yard line, faked a handoff to Lucky Jackson and followed blockers down the left side of the field.
