Burlsworth Trophy | Ray Guy Award
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Senior Max Halpin and punter Jake Collins received national attention early this week, as Halpin was named a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, while Collins earned a spot on the Ray Guy Award list of candidates.
The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding collegiate football player who began his career as a walk-on - as Halpin did in 2012 - and has shown outstanding performance on the field. In the award’s seventh year, the trophy is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, former University of Arkansas All-American offensive lineman who was tragically killed in a car accident 11 days after he was selected 63rd overall in the 1999 NFL Draft.
