WKU won a bowl game for the 3rd-consecutive season. The Hilltoppers previously beat Central Michigan (49-48) in the 2014 Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and South Florida (45-35) in the 2015 Miami Beach Bowl.
This was the 6th matchup between WKU and Memphis, and the 1st since 1956. With the Hilltoppers’ win, they improved to 3-2-1 against the Tigers.
