The Hilltoppers are on a four-game winning streak and over their last three victories they’ve raced out to big first-half leads.
WKU has led by margins of 38, 21 and 28 points, respectively, at halftime during the past three weeks against Old Dominion, Florida Atlantic and FIU.
The most recent big first half came Saturday against FIU. WKU (7-3 overall, 5-1 Conference USA) took off to a 35-7 lead after the game’s first two quarters and cruised to a 49-21 victory at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
“I think because we approached the game like it was extremely important, we came out hot and fast and built that lead and were able to breeze the rest of the way,” WKU coach Jeff Brohm said after the win Saturday.
