Drew Eckels will prepare for each game this season like he’s Western Kentucky’s starting quarterback.
The redshirt junior will break down film of the opposing defense, run practice reps with the first-team offense and be ready to play on Saturdays.
But if everything goes right for the Hilltoppers, Eckels’ preparations will mostly go for naught. Such is the life of a backup quarterback.
