Matthew Horton used to hear that he wasn’t ever going to play Division I basketball.
“I was 6-8, like 185 (pounds),” Horton said. “I was too little at the (height) I was.
“They were like, ‘Oh, you’re too little. You’re not athletic enough to play.’ That just motivated me to push myself to go harder.”
Horton got stronger, developed his game and now has the chance to play college basketball at the D-I level. The Class of 2018 forward from Shelton State Community College committed Saturday night to Western Kentucky.
Horton talked to the Daily News in a phone interview soon after committing, saying he chose the Hilltoppers over Arkansas and Georgetown.
